Legislative Reception

The Medical Society of Virginia’s 2009 Legislative Reception was a great opportunity for MSV members to thank members of the General Assembly for supporting medicine during this year's legislative session.  Hundreds of physicians greeted their delegates and senators at the February 18, 2009 event at the Library of Virginia.  MSV also welcomed Governor Timothy M. Kaine and members of his administration. 
 
Preceding the reception, MSV held an engaging legislative briefing by MSV's President Thomas W. Eppes, M.D., Ann Hughes, Mike Jurgensen, and Scott Johnson, moderated by Keith Hare.  The discussion covered a variety of topics including medical malpractice, medicaid reimbursement, and scope of practice issues.  Physicians participated in the discussion by asking questions of the panelists. 

MSV’s annual Legislative Reception is one of the most talked about events during the General Assembly session. MSV would like to thank all the physicians and their guests, the delegates, senators, and members of the Kaine administration who attended this event and made it such a success.
